On Thursday, March 23, 2017, the Queens Masonic Association (QMA) held an exceptional dinner and slight roast for RW Robert J. Servidio and RW George R. Wacob at Westbury Manor. The evening began with great Brotherhood and Brothers who had not seen each other in a while mingled with the delectable cocktail hour!
At the end of the hour we all made our way into the banquet hall where RW Jay Austin gave the opening prayer. This was followed by the Queens Masonic Veterans presenting the Flag of Our Country and the Pledge of Allegiance.
RW Joseph J. Saglimbene then introduced the two Honorees, thanking them for their hard work in the Quarries of our District and beyond. RW Joe then introduced the Brothers of our District’s Associations and had each of them say a few words to the Honorees. RW Joe also wished a happy birthday to Brother Nathan Lipper.
R W Joe then introduced the Grand Line who were in attendance and introduced the Brothers at the dais, each of them had nice things to say about the Honorees. The President of the Purple Circle, RW Gregory Noulas, thanked RW Bob and RW George for all their help throughout the years, he said these are two of the Best Men that the District ever produced.
District Deputy Spiro H. Triantafilis thanked all for coming and that RW George had sent him an e-mail only that afternoon to come to the dinner, to which R W George said, “no one can bribe me”, took a cigar from Brother Spiro and smiled!
RW Joe then read a letter from Brother Chick Berger in Florida thanking both for all the years and all their hard work in the District. RW Bob was part of New York City’s Finest and RW George was from New York City’s Bravest!
RW Marino Cesarini got up next and said “If you are going to do something in the Craft, emulate Bob and George!”
After a few more Brothers got up and thanked RW Bob and RW George, RW Bob got up and thanked everyone for coming. He gave his usual joke to start things off and said that Masonry has given him “Corn, Wine and Oil” and that he feels he has it all in Masonry. Wine being the nourishment of friendship and Masonry has made him a rich man because of all the friends he has made.
RW George was then asked to give a few words and he said all the things he has been recognized for should be for all the Brothers who support him and this Fraternity. He thanked all those that have helped him in the past and hoped that they would all continue helping all those in need in the future.
MW Vincent Libone was introduced and thanked everyone for their help in the District, especially RW Bob and RW George, “Two of the most wise men in Masonry.”
Deputy Grand Master, Charles Catapano, gave honors to RW Bob and RW George, combined they have done so much for the Queens District, they should have been honored long ago! He also thanked RW George for being a driver to and from the Shrine Hospital.
The thanks being complete the Benediction was given by RW Jay Austin and the evening was closed. Thank you all who made it, I’m sure a good time was had by all.
