This year the Queens Masonic Association (QMA) honored two special Brothers of the Queens District. The evening was dedicated to a Right Worshipful Brother who was taken away from us far too early, the R.*. W.*. Thomas J. Nazario. I’m sure other Brothers there, beside myself, felt humbled to be honoring District Deputy, R\W\Spiro H. Triantafilis, Assistant Grand Lecturer, V\W\Alan Schneider, as well as the memory of our dear departed Brother and Grand Sword Bearer.
The evening opened with a Prayer by R\W\Jay Austin after which we had the Queens Masonic Color Guard bring in the Flag of Our Country and lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
We were then introduced to the QMA Directors and the dignitaries at the dais. During the evening everyone at the dais had a chance to congratulate the two honorees and say something aboutR\W\Tom.
V\W\Alan was introduced, and he thanked the QMA for giving him this honor. He also thanked all the members of the Queens District for their help and joining in with so many projects. He also spoke about Brother Tom saying he was cantankerous and nasty at times, but, he always got the job done AND on time!
R\W\Spiro got up and thanked all the guests for coming, especially the Entered Apprentices and the Fellowcrafts. He also went on to thank all the Brothers that helped him in the District during the past two years and hoped that they would continue their help with the next District Deputy. He said that the Queens District Masons are always willing to teach each other and take curiosity about all things in the district. R\W\Spiro also stated that the next team of District Deputy and Grand Sword Bearer will take us further into Masonry, so be prepared and come out to the district functions!
